Brenton Kahle, LMFT
About me
Greetings! My name is Brent Kahle and have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1982. I received my Masters degree in Clinical/Community Psychology from California State University Fullerton in 1980.
For 35 years I have worked in outpatient and inpatient settings in Substance abuse for adolescents, adults and as a generalist in Outpatient Mental Health. For 13 years, I was an internal Employee Assistance Professional for the University of California. I have worked in county mental health agencies as a clinical supervisor of programs servicing Substance Abuse, Child/Family, Crisis Services and Adult Mental Health. I have been the Clinical Director of a Managed Care Company's regional office in Southern California and an 18 bed inpatient adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Program. I performed substance abuse assessments and progress evaluations for the State of California Impaired Professionals Program for 15 years. Specializing in a diverse range of mental health concerns, I assist clients navigate and overcome challenges related to depression, anxiety, substance use, and grief/loss/trauma by addressing not only the immediate symptoms but the underlying issues that contribute to the problem. The range of therapeutic services include individual, couples, parenting, family, domestic violence, relational problems, distress and crisis, PTSD, physical, emotional, sexual abuse, stalking, violence/bullying, anger and stress management.
My therapeutic approach to the counseling process is a collaborative one where each person is considered the expert about their own lives. Within this framework I assist clients in identifying strengths, challenges and goals for positive change.I employ various therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral, Psycho-Educational, Christian Faith Based if requested, Client-Centered, Existential and Psychodynamic methods.I was drawn to the field because the idea of being in a situation where someone could share their thoughts, feelings, experiences and their meanings in a safe, non-judgemental atmosphere in pursuit of personal growth was a sacred and exciting priviledge.Therapy can be tremendously rewarding, however it requires work. If you are committed to the process, it can be very fulfilling, but you get what you put in to it. Know that throughout your process, I will be there to guide and support by you by offering insights and tools for you to use in coping and overcoming your obstacles. Thank for considering me to be your therapist. I look forward to working with you!
