About me
Hi there, I'm Carrie!
When working with clients I like to use a very laid back approach, as to make them more comfortable. I like to use humor and let the client feel comfortable giving me feedback as to what approach they feel most comfortable with so they do not see therapy as a "task", yet something they enjoy.
My approach
My therapeutic approach differs depending on the client and their needs. I like to create a very comfortable environment for clients to find enjoyment in their sessions.
My focus
I have a vast history working with trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, as well as conflict resolution. I have many years of experience working with children and adults whether it be individual counseling, family counseling, or couples counseling.
My communication style
My therapeutic approach differs depending on the client and their needs. I like to create a very comfortable environment for clients to find enjoyment in their sessions. I like to have a very laid back approach that does not feel like "therapy".
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist after life long dream to be a prosecutor. In doing much research, I felt that I would be more helpful to people providing therapy, rather than seeking justice that to me did not feel would actually support someone who was not a statistic, yet a person with very real feelings that were not validated or even considered. I love helping people. I truly enjoy (although often sad) when a client no longer needs me. Throughout my education and career I have many clients who I feel taught me more than I could ever teach them through therapy.
My goals for you
Depending on the client, I have many approaches to goal setting. It is very important that my clients take part in their goal setting, in addition to where each goal is most important to my clients.
My first session with you
First sessions are a "getting to know you" session. The first session sets the tone for a future therapeutic relationship. It is during this session I like to learn about not only the reason for the client attending therapy, but them as a person, including interests, things that could potentially upset in order to not hinder their progress, and their comfort level about taking the step to attend therapy. I also like to give my clients an opportunity to "interview" me, ask questions about me within ethical limits, and often try to find something we may have in common that could aid in reaching their therapy goals.
