About me

After working in the field 42 years, with the LISW license for 25 years, the therapy work in office has been the most recent, with in home work before. Both these settings have provided a background for working with individuals, couples, and families. Located in rural Iowa, the practice has been a generalist approach while using a Brief Solution Focus approach. My training has included Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and I have provided clinical supervision to the local CISM team. During November, 2001, I spent 10 days in New York City working as a Red Cross volunteer providing mental health services. This crisis counseling while different than ongoing therapy, was a very positive experience. Working with older adults has increased during the last years of my full time work, being able to connect with elderly.

Absolutely the best therapist I have ever had. I appreciate Gary's professionalism along with a very caring manner. He is an authentic follower of Jesus Christ and a very kind soul.

Gary has been very informative during this time. He has given me words of encouragement and strong words of affirmation. Responds to all my questions in a timely manner and makes it feel as if we're talking in person.

Gary is a very kind and incredibly wise man. I've been with several therapists in my life, but few have listened as well as Gary does and fewer seem to genuinely care about the situations and troubles I bring up the way he does. He has been an integral part of my personal growth and the overall improvement of my mental health. I appreciate and look forward to every session I get to have with him, always ending the sessions feeling lighter and like I can take on more than I previously thought possible.
