My name is Jamie Matthews and I have been working as a counselor since 2007, and really enjoy helping people reach their treatment goals. I believe that counseling is about change, and believe people can change any behavior not working in their life. I started my career working in community mental health where I worked with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, and gained a great deal of experience helping individuals manage symptoms of hallucinations, delusions, severe depression symptoms, and severe anxiety symptoms. From 2007-2015 I did mainly group counseling sessions, and some individual counseling sessions using evidence based practices. From 2015-2021, I have worked as an Outpatient Therapist where I have worked with children, adults, and families in a community mental health setting.
Currently, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist people in staying present focused and learning the role thoughts, feelings, and behaviors play in the development and maintenance of family health, relationships and mental health problems. I do believe that it is important to learn to live your day-to-day life before discussing past experiences that may be holding people back. I am a strong believer in being solution focused, and learning ways to focus on current issues. When working with me I will not try to push you to share past experiences, but only work on current behaviors that are not working for you in your life. I also will not try to stop you from sharing things from your past that have been bothering you because I understand the value of having someone to hear and really listen to your needs. I look forward to working with you.

Before finding Jamie, I was in a very negative head-space. I needed help navigating my emotions and my situations. I feel so much more grounded and focused on the important things now. I've learned to let go of small things and allow myself to feel emotions as they come. I'm no longer controlled by my anger and anxiety. I can't thank Jamie enough.

I have only had two sessions so far but it is amazing how well this site can match you with a therapist. I’m not exaggerating when I say it is a perfect fit. Incredibly intelligent, funny, and a relaxing vibe all come together to make a great therapist and great therapy sessions with her. I’m trying to convince my wife to get an accountants so she can see her full time because I trust her that much with my mental health and also my family’s mental health.

I recently started working with Jamie and she has been really compassionate and knowledgeable. Sometimes she makes comments regarding something I am experiencing or a person in my life that are so “spot on” and that makes me feel truly heard and understood. She just gets it. Highly recommended!

I have been in therapy for a while and switched to better help for financial reasons knowing I still needed therapy.
I am very glad that I did, the quality of care and support I receive through better help is equal to that of a one on one therapist, it is more affordable, more convenient, and I can message my therapist at any time.

With my job, I don't have time to schedule appointments to see a counselor. And the ones I had before better help didn't click with me like I thought they would. Jamie has helped me so much and I always know I can confide in her and get the help I'm looking for. I have no doubt she's the best counselor I've had. I highly recommend her and this service, especially if you have a busy schedule or you like therapy from the comfort of your home. Having access to my counselor 24/7 really puts me at ease and I know that I can count on her being there.

Jamie is amazing. She's completely understanding, very calm and knows exactly how to calm me down when I'm having anxiety issues. I've been in therapy/counseling for a very long time and Jamie is the only person I've worked with that's actually willing to help me, that wants to help me. I'd recommend her to anyone.

Jamie has helped me quite a bit with the stresses of being a career changer. Jamie worked with me to show me techniques to help with stress management. She also recommended some tests to complete to ensure I was where I needed to be for my career. She is a great counselor and will continue using the service in order to keep Jamie as my counselor.
