Sheila Ahmadi, LCSW
About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 30 years of social work clinical and administrative experience. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MSBR), and other related interventions in combination with providing resource materials applicable to individual clients' needs. CBT assists you in disrupting negative thoughts, beliefs, and behavior patterns to replace them with more effective
ones for improved coping and functioning.
MI assists you in purposeful, intentional, and positive actions towards your best interests. MSBR helps you to understand how stress effects your body and mind and its negative health impact on you.
It informs you on how the practice of mindfulness tools of meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, and imagery are evidenced based practices to address stress for improved health.
I provide clients an open, non-judgmental environment to engage in a problem-solving approach to address stressors that are causing emotional dysregulation.
I have experience working with clients from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds who have been impacted by a range of traumatic life circumstances that cause stress, anxiety, and depression which effects their physical and mental well being.
I have clinical experience working in in-patient psychiatric hospitalization, Hospital ER and chronic health clinics, community mental health clinics, out-patient women's health care, in-patient labor and delivery, adolescent residential treatment, and counseling incarcerated men and women.
I work to empower clients to learn, understand, and work towards resolution of problem areas in their lives to experience themselves differently to lead more satisfying lives.
