About me
I would bring to BetterHelp, 37 years of professional experience as a chaplain, clinical social worker, social work supervisor, and behavioral health program manager. My medical military assignments included Walter Reed, Madigan Army Medical Centers, and the U.S. Army Public Health Command. Prior to military service, I was employed as a social work supervisor, and social worker in multiple settings, including; Outpatient. substance abuse, Inpatient. and Outpatient, mental health and dual diagnosis treatment. I’ve been a Macro Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Michigan since 1986. Co-Author and Contributor: "Diversity in Human Interaction: The Tapestry of America”, 2004, Oxford Press Publication. Served as a member of the VA/DOD Integrated Mental Health Strategy (IMHS) leadership team for Strategic Action (SA) #23 on Chaplains’ Roles in the VA and DOD; published an article in the Journal for Healthcare Chaplaincy, March 2013. I served as one of the Army’s national strategic planners and trainers on suicide awareness and prevention programs.
I'm currently employed part-time as a mental health chaplain with the Department of Veteran Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, VA San Diego Healthcare System, La Jolla, CA. I'm also a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Social Work at Capella University.
