About me

Hello! My name is Adam Hewitt, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Missouri. I have been with BetterHelp since 2021 after spending several years in private practice as a mental health therapist and substance abuse counselor. I've always been passionate about helping people overcome their challenges. When it comes to therapy, I like to keep things friendly and honest. I will never talk down to you or make you feel like a burden. I find it incredibly rewarding to see the joy on people's faces when they realize just how strong they can be, whether it's facing their fears, overcoming addictions, or taking control of their lives.

As for my therapeutic approach, I focus on your strengths. I believe that everyone has innate abilities that can help them achieve their life goals, and it is my job to help you find yours. I take a mindfulness based approach, and am very sensitive to how technology and culture intersect to make our lives more complicated. I've worked significantly with people dealing with trauma, substance and gaming addiction, and systemic oppression. My aim is to help individuals become empowered to go out into the world feeling in charge of their lives.

I don't consider myself to work for an agency; I'm here because of you. My promise is to let you take the lead to make the changes in your life that are meaningful to you. My hope is that my openness and positive attitude will make you feel trusted and inspired to live the life you deserve.

Very attentive and understanding of everything I have to discuss. Even understanding when I don't need a specific topic for discussing; simply in the growth and development of Therapist/Client relationship. I consider Adam to be a valued friend and confidant.

After a few sessions, I’ve already appreciated and felt improvement in my life based on the skills that Adam has helped me work on. He is a very available, honest, genuine and knowledgeable therapist that has challenged me to stay on track with my goals and constantly offers ways to improve on things. I’m excited to continue to work with Adam going forward.

I have had 2 sessions with Adam thus far and my life has already changed drastically for the better in a matter of a week. Adam’s ability to draw upon several therapeutic approaches to tailor a style unique to your situation is exceptional. I look forward to our sessions as both times I have left with a sense of hope and empowerment to tackle new challenges, learn more about myself, and thrive.

Although I have only met with Adam a few months weekly, I really feel hopeful in the directions were going and I feel very understood and supported. He is my third therapist through BH, third times a charm. I would highly recommend him. I can say that honestly, especially if you are Neuro spicy, he gets it, so helpful. I appreciate being able to work with someone who understands the way my brain works after wasting so many decades. It makes such a positive difference: Helpful, efficient, productive, positive, less stressful.

I wish I could have found Adam years ago, but I’m so grateful he is in my life now. Truly, a life saver and an inspiring, insightful, and wonderful person to have in my corner. I find myself really looking forward to our meetings every week because Adam is really my rock - the place where I can say what I need to, feel what I need to without judgement or prejudice; just total acceptance and respect. I couldn’t thank Adam enough for allowing me to view certain hardships another way and giving me the tools to combat them. But I’m thankful I can tell someone who is seeking an extremely kind, real, thought provoking, and honest therapist (with an incredible nerd knowledge) - Adam might just change your life. As he did mine.

He’s a genius. He was clearly meant to do this. He’s probably one of those people that would’ve been amazing at anything. I’m so grateful he chose helping people.
