About me

Hello! If you are exploring Better Help you must be struggling with something significant in your life. Finding the right person to help you through these challenges is very important. I want to provide you with more information about me in order to help you decide if my experience and style is the right match for you.

I am a clinical social worker licensed in New York and have over 20 years of experience working with people from all different backgrounds facing a variety of life challenges. Much of my experience has been working with people who have been impacted by trauma, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, sexual assault, family conflicts, parenting challenges and big life changes. I have training in Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Counseling and Motivational Interviewing.

I find hope in helping people heal and transform after trauma, loss and change. I believe in person centered care and honor that you are the expert in your life. Together we will discuss your concerns, map out your goals and develop the best way forward. I am reflective in my practice and commit to remaining responsive to your needs.

I am open to interacting with you in the manner that is most comfortable for you. I find it helpful to participate in video session/s to start so we can get to know each other and let our contact evolve from there. I am open to phone and texting as well. My current availability is evenings and weekends but check messages twice throughout every day.

I know it can be hard to take the first step in reaching out for help and finding the right counselor for your journey. I would be honored to work with you!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Alison Francis-Lord. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Allison is by far the best therapist I’ve ever had. She is the perfect combination of a sounding board but also pushes back when she hears inconsistencies or unhealthy thoughts patterns. She goes out of her way to do research into topics that she isn’t as familiar with so that she’s better prepared to help in those arenas. She is incredibly insightful and empathetic. I hope I can find another therapist who’s as good as she is!

Alison is the best! She’s a wonderful listener and also challenges me to think outside my comfort zone. I love all the conversations with her. It helps me a lot to become more peaceful. I am trying to figure out a way to continue therapy with Alison for the long term
