I am a licensed clinical social worker who graduated from the University of Denver in 2007. Since graduating I have worked in a variety of settings with a wide range of clients from children to adults. I have helped people with numerous issues including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and anxiety. I have special training in counseling those who have been through traumatic experiences both in school and in trainings since.
My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic and client centered techniques. More importantly, I believe in therapy being a collaborative process and I will work with you to provide the help that you need. My goal is to make this the most useful space for you as possible.
I have always believed that it is the strong who seek to change and I look forward to supporting you through this process!

Amanda listens with care and finds the critical nugget in each conversation that I hadn't seen for myself. She offers insights with gentle forthrightness and poses what seem like simple questions but are gateways to some profound discoveries. Over and over I feel that she is reminding me of things I already know but have lost track of. I especially appreciate her sense of humor. It's good to feel lighter at the end of our consults!

Written on Sep 10, 2019 after therapy with Amanda for 2 weeks on issues concerning stress, anxiety, sleeping disorders, and coping with life changes
Amanda has been great to work with. She gives me a lot to think about. I wasn't sure how I would feel about messaging back and forth rather than speaking in person. Surprisingly it works really well. It's like writing in a journal which already helps alleviate some of the negative emotions and then you get an expert response back that helps you see it from a different perspective!

I like that Amanda doesn’t spoon-feed me answers. It takes hard work to improve yourself, and having her ask pertinent questions makes me reflect and be accountable for myself. When I’m struggling to find those things on my own, though, she is ready with resources. I like that she is always kind, empathetic and patient.
