Amy Altman, LCSW-C
About me
I have been practicing mental health and substance abuse counseling for 29 years. I believe that my approach is warm and passionate. I believe that therapy is a collaborative approach between the therapist and client. My specializations and experience include working with clients with addictions, depression, work related issues, mood disorders, anxiety, self-worth/self-esteem issues, family conflict and other issues. In my years of treating various clients, I have found that one major similarity is how unkind clients can be to themselves as compared to how they are to others. My goal is to help them see how they manifest this lack of self-compassion and self-love. By empowering clients to be aware of this behavior and other unhealthy behaviors, clients make better decisions, engage in healthier relationships, and see the world in a more positive way. I hope that I will have the opportunity to share this experience with you.

I have only had one session so far, but I like Amy’s approach. She keeps me focused and doesn’t let me grovel. Then she pushes me along to more productive thought patterns.

Amy really hears me. Amy tried to understand me, and she successfully reached an understanding of my story and why I feel the ways I do. It only took a few sessions, and now I’m really working on myself in what feels like such an easy way. Amy is careful, caring, and puts a lot into perspective. A master of her craft! I am really grateful I was matched with Amy.
