Amy Johnson, LICSW
About me
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Massachusetts with 20 years of experience working with adolescents and their families. I have had the privilege of helping teens and their families deal with very complex, challenging issues in a variety of settings. Many of my clients have struggled with depression, anxiety, peer and relationship issues, trauma , dissociation, and abuse. These significant challenges often contribute to behavior including addiction, self harm, and suicidality which have impacted my client's lives profoundly.
I am compassionate and committed to helping improve the lives of those seeking my help. I believe the therapeutic relationship is essential to helping clients engage vulnerability and take on their personal challenges. I do not rely on a particular framework for understanding where someone is coming from but instead. pull from a variety of clinical theories to determine the best way to help. I believe in the individual narrative, perspective, and experience and will always start where the client is, when they seek help. The treatment I provide respects the unique and specific needs of each individual and I don't believe in a "one size fits all" model. I listen intently and challenge clients to work with me to better understand and look at what gets in their way and to ultimately make the shifts necessary to improve their lives.
Deciding to get help is an indicator of your strength and courage. If you think I might be a good fit to help you make changes in your life I am ready to support you!

I have been working with Amy for more than a year and it has been one of the best experiences I have ever had. She listens carefully, reads my journal entries and responds, and provides quick and amazing advice. She has made me feel more confident in myself and my own abilities and I am grateful that I was paired with her.
