About me

Hi. My name is Amy L Settles and I am looking forward to working with you. I have been a clinical social worker in Oklahoma City, Ok. for 35 years. I first attended Emerson College located in Boston, Massachusetts where I received a B.S degree in Speech Education with a minor in Dramatic Arts. I also attended the University of Denver where I received a Master of Arts degree in Interpersonal and Group Communication. I then earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Oklahoma. This degree allowed me to pursue my career as a mental health therapist also know as a psychotherapist. I have specialized training in treating Sexual Abuse. I also have numerous hours of training in the areas of Death and Dying, treating Trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Couples Therapy.
I enjoy working with people from all walks of life. I have worked with teens all the way up to the very mature.
My counseling style is warm, interactive, and collaborative. If you are looking for a therapist that will agree with everything you say, I am not the therapist for you. I use evidence based modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapies, mindfulness, and family of origin based interventions.
Together we can explore your psychological/emotional needs so I can help you in whatever it is that is troubling you. I will work with you by actively listening to what you have to say. Together we will process what is going on in your life and discuss the possibilities of other options. I will give you relevant feed back so that you can continue processing it throughout your therapy journey and beyond.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Amy Settles. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Amy is incredibly understanding, empathetic and practical with her advice. She listens very well and gives the objective perspective on my problems that I need sometimes, and meeting with her for the past few months has been a huge part of me regaining my self confidence and getting in control of my own life. She offers wisdom while still being nonjudgmental, and I really did not expect to find someone so caring and helpful via videochat therapy on BetterHelp, but she is really excellent at her job and has changed my life for the better so much!

Amy has been a godsend. She's firm when she needs to be, but is also gentle and understanding. She started out as my marriage counselor, and became my personal counselor when my marriage counseling did not work out. I would recommend her to anyone I possibly could. It's like talking to an old friend most of the time. That's how comfortable she makes the whole experience.
