Angela Simbro, LCSW
About me
I am clinically licensed in Missouri with several years of high level professional work experience. I am formally trained in Trauma focused approaches; EMDR; ADHD systems and support; Motivational Interviewing; Clinical Wellness Coaching; Clinical Treatment planning for individual, systems and communities; Safety planning; Zero Suicide intervention; Cognitive Behavioral Therapies including Dialectal, Developmental Disorder, and Trauma focused modalities.
First and foremost everything I use is focused through a trauma lens. I start where the client is at and look at safety first. Then, I approach through the wellness model while using the Integrative therapy most appropriate for the client needs. Somatic therapies and psychoeducation are most common while implementing talk therapies. Once a treatment plan is established I find I use a holistic blend of CBT, DBT, TFCBT, Acceptance and Commitment, Behavioral Activation. Strengths Based, Family Systems, Expressive Arts, and more depending on the needs of the client.
I have a great deal of experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, parenting issues, finding motivation, ironing out self esteem issues, and building confidence. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!

Angela is an amazing therapist who creates a comfortable and conversational atmosphere. She actively listens and responds thoughtfully, making the sessions feel like a natural conversation. Angela also provides valuable insights, often backed by research or scientific explanations about how our brains and bodies work. Her knowledge and understanding contribute to a deeper understanding of oneself and the tools to navigate challenges effectively.

I have seen a handful of therapists in person over my adult life. Angela is hands down my favorite. I was initially nervous about trying therapy online because I was afraid that it would feel impersonal. But I have had such severe social anxiety that I was afraid I’d avoid leaving my house to see someone locally. Finally after 2 years of trying hard to pull myself out of the hole I’ve been sliding back down into I filled out the survey and was matched with Angela. I signed up for a video call as my first visit in hopes that we’d get a better feel for each other with the intention of proceeding with chat visits only. I enjoy speaking with her so much that I’ve never even considered doing chat visits since the first call.
Her own experiences as a neurodivergent makes her a no nonsense problem solver with the empathy and understanding to carry the lamp and lead the way to a better understanding of myself and how I interact with the world. She’s very interactive and intuitive. I may start a session thinking that a certain struggle is what’s causing a road block. She sees past that and will often steer me toward the root cause of my anxiety. Our brains work similarly so I always want to know what approach we are taking to tackle a problem so that I understand how it helps. I appreciate her willingness to educate me and her extensive education and love of the field really shines through.
For the first time in two years I find myself sleeping better and actually feeling the pull to get out of the house a bit. My personal relationships are getting better. I am so happy that I was placed with Angela and can’t wait to see where else our visits will improve my quality of day to day life.
Thank you for all you do, Angela! There’s no doubt in my mind that being placed with you was “Kismet!” ❤️
