I have been working in the behavior health field for 40 years as a therapist as well as a clinical supervisor and administrator in small and large behavioral health organizations. I was born in Kentucky and have lived in Cincinnati area for over 30 years. I went to graduate school in West Virginia and am fully licensed in Ohio. I am increasingly drawn back to doing more work directly with people, particularly those struggling with a relief from their day to day struggles and looking to find solutions to problems. I have experience with people experiencing career challenges and relationship issues all the way to people who have a severe mental illness. I love helping people find solutions to issues. I focus on the here and now and while I recognize and acknowledge the significant impact a past trauma may have on one’s life I like to focus on helping people find the way to deal with that impact in order to have a good life. I have a significant amount of experiencing helping people become more successful in their professional roles and can work with you on this if this is your need.
My education and my many years of professional experience and my age has provided me with a perspective about people and how they communicate with each other that can be valuable. My style is friendly, warm, interactive and practical. I have a good sense of humor and, while its a little strange that I don't get many jokes, people often laugh at me for making jokes and for joking about myself. I believe that learning to communicate effectively as well as to laugh at ones' self are primary tools for healing. I use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). CBT usually involves efforts to adjust thinking patterns and or behaviors that can help you learn better ways of coping with life's full variety of stressors. SFBT focuses on a change model that takes on problems one at a time, sets a goal and accomplishes it quickly. I I also have a number of hours of training in Executive Coaching as well and this provided me with a slightly different perspective on therapy that is slanted toward a problem solving model.

She was a great therapist and at times I didn't "feel" like she was a therapist. She herself was very honest and will tell you how it is unbiased and that was very insightful. She cares and shows it. It's not just words and she does try to help by making YOU look at what's going on and show you different ways to see things. She offers things for you to read or watch to show you different way to do or approach situations and makes your head think. I'd recommend her to anyone.

I have worked with Anne for several months now. She served as a therapist and leadership coach. We had wonderful conversations and I truly valued her time. She helped me take more action and find the leader in myself. She has given me more confidence. I am taking a break from therapy because I feel she has given me the tools to be successful! I would recommend her to my friends and family! 5 stars! Thank you, Anne!

Anne Combs completely changed my life for the better. This is the first time I ever talked with a therapist, I waited far too long. If you are having mental troubles, it is absolutely imperative that you at least try therapy! It will work, especially if you have a positive mindset and do what is suggested. It will work, I have proven that it will work for anyone who has a positive attitude and USE THE TOOLS! I was in a terrible place, I feel so fortunate that I was able to work with Anne, a real GAMECHANGER!

I highly recommend Anne as a therapist. She is empathetic, knowledgeable, supportive, honest with her feedback, and a solid sounding board when you are a verbal processor like me. I especially recommend her for someone in the social work/ mental health field who needs someone with a similar perspective and ethical stand point to navigate professional stress and decisions.

Ms. Combs have been the perfect blend of relating to me objectively with professional skills and tools, as well as with kindness, compassion and softness. I am particular in a way that I don’t like to be lectured or told what to do, but need something more than just my feelings being echoed - Ms. Combs have navigated through that with me. I’ve also often times had a babbling, sometimes howling, baby in the background and/or foreground, and Ms. Combs have never made me feel bad about my baby interrupting our sessions. Whether this was Ms. Combs’ intentions or not, that has helped me with my confidence as a mother and has further helped me accept that being a mother is a multidimensional role for a woman.

I've never had a counselor before. While I've needed one probably a number of times in my life, I've never really reached out to ask for the help until now, when I pretty desperately need it. Anne has so far been so helpful for me. She's been patient with me as I work through trying to figure out myself, as well as this process, and she's given me tools that have helped me get through the really bad moments/hard days. She's withheld judgment and offers kindness and encouragement, as well as some laughter. I look forward to continuing this journey with her. And thank you. <3

Anne is an excellent, approachable and supportive counselor. Her approach with me was clear and adaptive. She took a goal-oriented approach and helped me identify and prioritize my own goals for counseling. She provided useful worksheets to help me think about the goals, and also suggested some small tasks to help me meet and reflect on each of my goals between our sessions. She is thoughtful and a great listener, and I sincerely enjoy talking to her. I would definitely recommend her!

Anne is amazing! Compassionate, honest, and extremely focused on helping her clients. Being a social worker myself, it’s hard to “shrink yourself” but she makes it easy and is extremely competent. She has helped me take my insights and turn them into goals. I feel hopeful and excited for our sessions every week. She is personable and funny and is able to draw things out of yourself you wouldn’t think were possible. Highly recommend investing in yourself with her!
