April Hitchcock-Fofana , LMSW
About me
I am a Licensed Social Worker in Michigan with over 15 years of clinical experience in the mental health world. I specialize in managing anxiety, depression, anger, low self esteem, grief and loss, relationships, life transitions, and trauma. Feelings can hit hard and be confusing. Trauma and/or negative experiences can alter our brain in ways that make us more vulnerable to intense, negative emotions. This can create a state of mindlessness throwing our awareness and acceptance off balance. We can become more reactive and at times dissociate from experiences, not truly enjoying life and unable to recall certain memories. This can hurt our relationships and impact our work or school performance. I can teach you the skills to understand yourself and reclaim your emotional stability. The journey is unique and not linear, but with time and patience, I will help you build resilience and teach you new ways to cope with overwhelming emotions.

April is great. She is very helpful and listens to me thoroughly. She gave me worksheets that helped me a lot- even just reading through the info and not fully completing the worksheets really helped me. I would highly recommend her. She is also very accommodating and messages me back quickly.

So far my journey with April has gone far above my expectations. She challenges me but never pressures me. She works with me at my own pace and allows me ample time to process things. I recommend 10/10

April is so kind and understanding, she will meet you where you are, whoever and wherever you are. She does a great job of listing to you and learning your character and heart, then using that to help you help yourself. She may even play devils advocate which is necessary in any situation you want to see growth come from, if you never look for all the challenges, you will never fully understand and interact with situations. She is great at what she does and knows it’s important to help you keep your mind and body healthy.
