About me

I am a Clinical Mental Health Counselor licensed in the state of Montana. I also hold a PhD in Counselor Education and work as a professor of counseling. Because of my role in teaching future counselors, I am committed to staying up-to-date, informed by the research literature, and passionate about the field of psychotherapy.

My clients face a variety of issues from mild life dissatisfactions to overwhelming despair. I embrace a holistic model of healing that strives to empower clients through addressing core concerns and patterns that no longer serve them. People often tell me that my counseling style contains a balance of supportive and challenging interventions. I believe all people deserve to feel respected during the challenging process of seeking help, which is why I always work to provide empathic responding, curiosity vs. judgment, and humor when appropriate. I communicate my respect for my clients by being interested in them as human beings and by being aware of the time and resources they put into the counseling process.

Every client is different and I work with each individual to understand how I can best support their unique needs and desires for the process and outcomes of counseling.
