Ash Chopra, BACP, NCPS
About me
Hello,
My name is Ash and I am a counsellor and psychotherapist and a university and college lecturer. I organise and run workshops and seminars and I am a qualified casework supervisor to other professional counsellors.
As well as working one to one with clients, I also work with couples in relationship therapy.
I am credentialed in the UK with 9 years of professional work experience and a member of the BACP and accredited member of the NCPS.
I am experienced in helping clients with many common mental health problems including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, identity & intimacy related issues working respectfully and sensitively with identity, understanding cultural difference and diversity, I believe that you are the expert of your life and that you have many strengths that we can identify and discover in our work, and I will try to help you work through, understand and overcome things that challenge you. I can help facilitate change and work with you to find the direction you want to go without judgement or advice, with an empathic approach.
I can offer coping strategies and ways to plan and implement healthier therapeutic educational choices if you so wish, and this will be entirely your decision if you may find it helpful. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am would like to help you make the best use of your time.
I work with an integral approach which means I am trained to use several therapeutic ways to look at helping you with your therapy which include Person Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT , Transactional Analysis and Solution Focused Therapy. I can explain these ways in more detail if you wish to when we meet.
I believe you can benefit and enhance your life with therapy however it is not a 'onetime fix' approach. it takes time, dedication and commitment to work through difficulty and studies show that those who stick to regular therapy which is consistent and where clients are willing to meet at regularly agreed sessions for counselling, seem to benefit the most from therapy. It takes time to build rapport and trust in the relationship before real changes start to appear and you will be surprised and glad that you didn't give up on yourself, as I will not give up on you. You made it here! I am invested in change and building best outcomes but they must be driven by you as I believe you will find the answers.
I look forward to working with you.
