About me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 24 years of experience as a psychotherapist. I have worked with a broad spectrum of clients. Among the areas of expertise are: PTSD, Play therapy, Couples and Family Therapy. I have worked for two regional MHMR's and in a psychiatric hospital setting (UTHealth Science Center Northeast) with families, adults and adolescents. I also have credentials as a teacher and taught special education for several years in public school districts.
I am an interactive, solution-focused therapist with additional specializations in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively identify and address personal life challenges. I strive to integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each patient. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. I received training in Cognitive Processing Therapy through the Department of State Health Services, and my name appears in the state online registry of certified CPT therapists.

Ava has a wise, calming demeanor that is very comforting. I feel that she has dealt with a wide range of issues in her practice, but she doesn't minimize or dismiss anyone's specific experience.
