About me

Hello. My name is Barb. I moved to southern California to be near my son, after living in St. Louis Missouri all of my life. I have always enjoyed my work with people and strongly believe we move forward when ready. My approach is mostly cognitive, psycho-educational, and supportive. I am rather casual & like to use humor when appropriate, as a tool, to help make the sessions comfortable.

I believe no "one size fits all" in the therapeutic relationship; if something isn't working, we can back it up and try something different. I try to pay attention to a client's energy and offer techniques best suited; for example, some clients want more guidance, others more autonomy. My job is to "listen" and identify helpful movement toward understanding, growth, and healing.

I check my emails 2x a day and will respond w/in 24 hours.

Barbara has been my Rock. She’s intuitive, empathetic, and so professional. I look forward to each session.

although i could easily write Barb a whole novel of praises, i’ll try to keep it concise for the readers’ convenience lol. (spoiler alert: i still haven’t grasped the concept of “concise”)

to say having Barb as a therapist has been life-changing would be a negligible understatement at best. i have never before had the pleasure of talking to someone so accepting and understanding of my problems- even when she couldn’t directly relate to something i was going through, not once did she make me feel judged and always provided the listening ear i so desperately needed. from her i received plenty of invaluable advice and techniques to better myself- from learning to not only ground myself when anxious but also how to effectively live with it , all the way to incredibly tender subjects such as a history of SA and being able to once again feel whole in mind, body, and spirit.

what i have to say to the reader is that if you truly want to be better, to nourish and build healthy relationships, and live a fulfilling life, you must not only be honest and transparent with Barb, but really hear her words and do the work to implement them in your own life. change does not happen in a day, and it’s not always easy, but it is rewarding in a way i personally never thought possible. keep persevering even in the difficult times- one day you’ll look back and see how far you’ve grown, and realize that this is the best thing you could’ve done.

if you’ve read this far, and have the option to match with Barb as your therapist, all im saying is take that leap of faith. if i (someone who was vehemently and openly against therapy) can do it, you can surely do it, too.

so to Barb- thank you. for everything. this isn’t goodbye- it’s see you later. can’t wait to see what the future holds and to update you on my journey
