Beverly Lubin, LMFT
About me
I have the utmost respect for those who seek help through therapy. Therefore, my therapeutic approach is a collaborative one, based on the belief you have the answers you need within yourself. It is my job to help you get to those answers. In essence, you are the explorer, I am the sherpa, guiding, encouraging and supporting you through new awarenesses, discoveries and personal growth.
I welcome the opportunity to be creative in my work and often integrate several therapeutic techniques and modalities in the same session, depending on the client's needs and disposition.
I have been a Licensed Marriage andFamily Therapist since 2003 in the state of California, and have specialties in mind/body/mindfulness work, spirituality, art therapy, drama therapy and cognitive/behavioral. In my private practice as well as in clinical settings I have worked with dual-diagnosed clients, couples, individuals, groups and families.
Because of my own life experience, I particularly appreciate working with the aging community, and with artistic personalities, people in life transition, or those addressing issues of long-term illness or depression.
These are crazy times, and I am here to help however I can!
Mahalo!

I really love how direct Beverly is, she holds me accountable for my actions and helps guide me through tough experiences to get through them. I also like how she gets to the root cause of things and not just a surface level. It's not easy doing the work but it's necessary for healing and having someone hold me accountable for doing these things is essential for my journey. She is very compassionate and empathetic, she offers relative experiences, and I get a very warm and inviting vibe from her.

Very good on the surface never gave it enough time or attention to actually make a good evaluation

Bev has been a constant support for me over the past 11 months. Thinking about where I was mentally and emotionally when I started with her, and where I am now, I can say with confidence that she's contributed immensely to my growth and progress.
Bev is wise, relaxed, professional, kind, warm, and nurturing. She is also REAL and honest with you. She is a great listener, and really good at refocusing you on what really matters and getting to the root of things. She is always able to give me relevant work through the week to follow through on our discussion. She is well versed in guided meditations and body scans, the connection between the mental and the physical. Some of the most valuable sessions were when she helped me examine my inner child and subconscious. This was powerful work!
She strikes a good balance of giving helpful feedback, while also allowing your voice to come forward and be heard by yourself in a different lens or perspective. I'm grateful to Bev and highly recommend her!

Bev is amazing. She is honest and does not say what you want to hear but what you need to hear.
I’ve had many “Aha” moments with her during sessions that have helped me regain my confidence and ability to work through and move past the hard stuff.

I love how honest she is. Something may not be what you want to hear but maybe it's what you need to hear. She's sensitive to that but also recognizes I might be idealizing or romanticizing my ex without so many words. "The proof is in the pudding." But also he might have just been afraid.
I also like that she related something I was dealing with to something that may have happened to her. It made me feel more like she was a real person that drew not only from her education but also personal experience. Mind you it was once but I feel like I'm talking to a friend who's genuinely concerned about my journey and wants to be helpful to me.
I feel that if she felt she wasn't doing me a service she would recommend someone else to talk to because she cares about me / my situation and not making money from me being a patient.
I'm a medical professional in a different capacity and I absolutely try to get my patients to the right place or outcome for their situation.
I see that she doesn't want to push too hard but she's open to having a dialogue about what she sees and thinks we need to spend time on and I trust her professional opinion. On the same token she asks my perspective and if I think I'd benefit from digging deeper into something or that we're beating a dead horse so to speak.
Then she's honest saying she thinks there might be something hidden amongst things I might think I've already dealt with and moved on from. She acknowledges it may not be comfortable and she wants me to know it may take time to get to the core issue. It's not a quick fix one session.
I truly believe she had my best interest at heart. I feel guilty about the one sided relationship. I realize I'm paying her for her time but I think I would genuinely like her as a person in the real world and would value a give and take friendship. Who's more comfortable to talk to and expect not to put up with or sugar coat your nonsense than and true friend?
Truly, she's great! I can't say enough good things.

Bev is kind and empathetic. She also knows how to be firm in the most respectable way. She holds you accountable and makes sure you are proactive on what your goals are. Since I've been working with Bev, the past 2 months I have seen improvements in my life and she's there to cheer me on every step of the way. I can't thank her enough :)
