About me
Hello my name is Brenda Broadnax and I am an LPC, licensed in the state of Virginia. I graduated with a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. I started as a therapeutic Day treatment Counselor in a public school system in VA. My role was to provide direct support to students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. My clinical experiences started in a private practice working with children, adolescents, their families and adults diagnosed with various dual diagnosis. I also worked for the County with clients who were diagnosis with Schizophrenia and other underlying conditions.
I have worked with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, Autism, Borderline, ADHD, DV victims, Homeless population as a clinical case manager, Human trafficking victims, Sexual Offenders, child abuse victims, Bipolar, PTSD and clients diagnosed with ID. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma and emotional abuse.
My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect and dignity. My thoughts process is everyone has something to work on there is no room for judgement. My approach combines, TFCBT, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, rational-emotive counseling, Narratives Therapy, Mindfulness Reality Therapy, DBT and Eclectic therapy which is an open, integrative form of psychotherapy.
