I'll bet that past therapy you've had has felt like a bunch of crap and a total waste of time, right? So many clients tell me about their negative experiences with past therapists, who "just listened" and "didn't really show me how to make anything better." Well, I don't play that game (you are paying for services, after all, right?). I want you to feel you've actually gotten useful skills to improve your situation. I often work with clients with a range of problems and concerns, although I specialize in work with the LGBTQ+ community. I have extensive experience in individual therapy, couples therapy and group therapy.
I'll show you how to identify and challenge the "stinkin' thinkin'", which contributes to feelings of depression and anxiety, substance use, and even problems in couples' relationships. Many clients have told me that I am the "first therapist, who has ever helped" them and often tell me that they feel significant relief even after our first session.
We can make all sorts of excuses and justifications for keeping ourselves depressed and anxious. If you're really ready to get to work with someone, who truly cares, I'd be honored to work with you. Clients have told me they love my sense of humor and down-to-earth approach. Let's get together and help you achieve the peace of mind you deserve.
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Brian Sharp. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Brian is the best therapist I've had thus far
I've been in therapy with him for my Codependency issues for a few months now
He's shown me that I'm not the only person to have gone through what I have
As others have said Brian is a no-nonsense therapist and is not afraid to tell it like it is which is a welcome change
He's called me on my BS many times
I would like to continue with Brian unfortunately my bank account says no
I'll miss my talks with Brian

Brian has been amazing in helping me find my core insecurities and assisting in breaking through those. He pushes me to feel what I'm feeling without making me feel unsafe or forced. He allows me to vent while also bringing me back to the main focus. I feel more confident than before, though there is a ways to go, I know Brian is the one to help me get there.

Brian was fantastic as a counselor; I’m actually kind of sad we were able to work through my issues because he’s such a pleasure to talk to. His skills in pinpointing the underlying cause of my issues was awesome, and he did a great job of balancing letting me talk and talking to me about developing tools to deal. The resources he provided were a huge help and I’ve got them saved for future review if I have issues crop up later. Highly recommend Brian if you’re serious about getting yourself on the right path.

Brian is kind, funny, no bullshit therapist who has totally transformed my life. He’s managed to help me with things I didn’t even know were root causes. He always made time for me when I needed it, provided strategies and gave me worksheets to give me references to my daily life to practice. He’s got a killer sense of humour, and lots of anecdotes of his own life which are so relatable. 100/10 would recommend to anybody, especially if you want someone to tell you like it is, no bullshit!

Brian has been very encouraging and understanding, while being tough and blunt when need be. I feel that he gets me and recognizes the struggles, but does not let me fall back on accepting them by making me think evaluate how I think in daily life. His words stick with me in the real world. I have found sessions with Brian to be very helpful!

Brian was the perfect match for me, he showed me his no BS approach to my problems, he would call me on when I was making excuses, of course he did this in the most kind way possible. He listens to me, relates to me, empathizes with me, discussed not only my problems, but the progress I've made, and the steps to take to achieve that progress. I have shared so much with Brian, during sessions there was crying, laughing, speechless moments, we talked about shared experiences, personal experiences, progress, praise, and so much more. I could go on and on about how much Brian has helped me get to the point I'm at now, but I'll sum it up to this: Brian is kind, empathetic, he will listen to you and help you figure out the best way to get to where you want to be. He has helped me in more ways than I could ever count or explain.

Brian has been a fantastic source of help and support in the past few months. He listens to my concerns, helps me identify their sources when needed, and never skips a beat to offer his honest, direct opinion. Brian has also provided me with a huge number of resources and exercises that I can work on in between sessions. He is responsive, and has always adapted our sessions together to my needs (whether it be in frequency, focus, etc). I highly recommend him as a therapist!

Brian is phenomenal, when I had came on to this app looking to get better and be better I was at a lost. I scrolled around on this app to try and find someone who fit the description of what my problems were, I all of a sudden stumbled on to Brian. We spent months tracking and working things out and learn about how I can handle problems. It was the best duration of therapy I have ever done. So happy I chose to work with Brian. No regrets

Brian helped me in the most empathetic and productive way possible. It was reinvigorating. I came to him in a state of disarray and he helped me navigate through a wide variety of issues with distinct tools I could reference throughout my time with him. Each session fed into another, I learned so much about my brain. He comes from a place of empathy and love, but, most importantly, honesty. He never coddled me or "bullshits" his clients, he will always be transparent; yet, in this, I felt like he created a safe space for me to be incredibly vulnerable and truthful about my inner dialogue. I'm departing from our sessions feeling like he equipped me to recognize my thought patterns and approach life from a perspective of love for myself and those that matter most to me. My thoughts towards life were hopeless, he turned that around for me and I'll always be thankful. If I need guidance again, I will absolutely return to him.

Brian is insightful, firm, and repectful. Their style challenged the way I addressed situations and conflict in my life in a way that never seemed confrontational or off-putting. The "tools" they've helped me develop have already proven to be a great asset in my life and I highly recommend him. 5 out of 5.

Brian... He has put up with so much of my crap for so long. He let me have my moments, my meltdowns. Then he gently, and sometimes not as gently (but still very kindly) helped me start really examining my anxieties, fears, my sources of different hurts, and places where I could grow. He travelled with me through a lot of self-discovery, cheered me on, helped me learn tools to draw on, and refused to let me give up on myself. And as things began to open up, as I began to actually start finding the other side, finding happiness, finding the extra space inside my head and my body to breathe and think, he was there to keep me going and offer me more support and further cheering, and some therapeutic "love" - if you will. Brian sees me through rough patches and, thankfully, now mostly checks in every couple of weeks just to see how I'm doing. With all the tools I have gathered, the confidence I have learned, and the knowledge that I can reach out to Brian in case I have questions or need someone to hear me for a moment life has become so much easier.
I am grateful to Brian for climbing down in the dark with me, showing empathy, hearing me, helping me find the way out, and waiting for me to stumble up through to the other side. Am I there 100%? Of course not. There are still low days. But you know? Those lows are higher than they used to be and way easier to get out of. If that doesn't convince you to AT LEAST look at counseling if you live with depression, then I don't know what will. Because imagine... one day, it may just be possible to be able to look down at where those lowest lows were, and not remember how bad they felt because they are distant behind you. It's a lot of work and some of it sucks, but it sucks less than not doing it at all.
Brian, himself, doesn't pull punches. He calls it as he sees it which can feel a little bit brusque sometimes. If you do well with people being direct, honest, and are able to handle someone calling you out on your crap... He is your guy. He does it out of kindness and with the best intentions but you won't get the lovey squishy petting. So... know that now. He's funny, kind, straightforward, and probably the best therapist I have ever had (out of the three... so small pool but still).
