Do I have a mental health issue or am I just lazy?
I'm glad you asked this question. Before, I give my response, I do want to let you know that this is no way constitutes a diagnosis- however it does seem that you may be struggling with some mental health symptoms. You mentioned that you are not able to get out of bed, more often than not. You also noted that this is increasing and you are having issues at work because of this as well. Trouble getting out of bed, sleep issues, and lack of energy, which you mentioned in your question, can all be symptoms of depression. Depression symptoms can manifest themselves in many different ways. We often think of depression as being sad, and down all the time but there are many other symptoms as well. I'm going to include some other depression symptoms for you to review and you can look these over and see if you identify with any of them. These include: changes in appetite, trouble falling asleep/staying asleep, sleeping too much, agitation, anxiety, feelings of hopelessness/worthlessness, anger, low energy, feeling irritable, less interest in activities you would normally be interested in, trouble concentrating, crying, restlessness & some can experience suicidal thoughts as well. I would review this area and see if there are more than a few symptoms you identify with. From your entry, it also sounds like you are also struggling with some anxiety symptoms as well. You noted that if you walk in & see clutter- it's hard to focus until you address it. I'm glad that you saw your doctor to see if there was anything biochemically going on with you. It sounds to me simply that you might have something else going on. Maybe it is stress, maybe there are family issues, etc; but something is contributing to the symptoms of anxiety and depression that you are experiencing. I would not say you are lazy at all - even reaching out to ask this question shows that you are concerned and willing to prioritize your mental health. I would suggest reaching out and speaking to a counselor so they can help you to identify what is triggering some of those symptoms. If nothing else, it will give you a positive outlet and some new coping skills to work with. I hope this was helpful!
