Are counselors 24 hours? I live in Korea and its hard to talk to the US

When it is daytime in the states, it is night time here and vise versa. It is hard for me to just stay up late in order to talk to the states.. I am wondering how I can easily talk to my counselor?

Thank you for reaching out and inquiring about counselors hours.  Unfortunately I cannot speak for all counselors.  The majority of counselors have set business hours and they normally operate only during those times.  Some counselors have flexibility within their schedule to meet their clients needs.  On the betterhelp platform you do have access to message the counsleor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The counselor should respond within 24 hours of you leaving the message.  You do have the ability to mark the message of high importance/priority if you need a response sooner than later.

While the time difference does sound like a difficult task, it does not have to be impossible to work with.  I empathize with you and the frustration this may cause you. There are a few potential options to resolving this delimna.  The first suggestion would be to find a counsleor that has flexible hours.  Unfortunately it may take a few attempts to get a counsleor that can work with the time difference.  I would encourage you to be open in your profile of what hours you are available and include your time zone. This should make it helpful for any couselor that is viewing your profile that has interest in taking you on as a client. Another potential option would be to consider requesting a counsleor that is not in the US. Potentially a counselor in your country that way your hours would be more compatible.  I would suggest if you choose this route to include in your profile you are seeking a counselor located in Korea.  Another potential option is to take advantage of the messaging component on betterhelp. While it is not the same as direct contact and immediate feedback it does allow for you to at least get your thoughts and feelings out.  There is a journaling component on the site as well that you could use. You could possibly use the journaling aspect daily to keep the therapist abreast of your thoughts and feelings, which could also be helpful for you to track what you're going through and how it is effecting you. You could also see what you have worked on and what has been helpful and what hasn't been helpful for you.  Hopefully the response provides some understanding and guidance.
