What to do when attraction is mutual?

Attraction is a natural human experience we all experience to one degree or the other throughout our lives. There are varying themes of attraction as it can occur in contexts such as romantic, intimate and friendship sense. Focusing on attraction in the romantic sense, as individuals we know when its occurring to us. Our minds become hyper-focused on the other individual by focusing on physical attributes, their use of language and tone, their smell, our heart racing, blood pumping, their innate ability to captivate our attention etc. Since our “inner” world is telling us we are attracted what do we do when attraction is mutual?

                As with many things options in moving forward if that is something we want to do. Although we recognize mutual attraction existing, it's important to determine within a reasonable amount of time what are interest are with the other individual. Are we ready to enter into a romantic relationship?, Are we seeking a short term relationship or a long term one? Or do simply want to let this attraction take a more natural course and take it day by day? These perspectives are helpful in guiding our next moves as we want to be intentional about the direction we prefer to take even if it’s more of a natural approach.

                However, let’s say we have decided to evolve the mutual attraction in a more direct way. What are some ways to evolve the attraction since initially it sits on a more superficial level due to recent acknowledgement? A healthy approach is to develop communication that allows for an equal honest exchange of dialogue. This approach helps to either solidify or not the attraction we are experience. Following the involvement of health communication, meeting on each other’s “turf” is a good way of further immersing ourselves in the other individual’s life. This way we a taste of what the other individual’s interest are and possibly even uncover some uniqueness they possess beyond the attraction. Once the exchange of communication and meeting on eithers “turf” has occurred consistently for some time, it will help solidify the mutual attraction and further evolve it based on the aspects that two independent individuals add to collective romantic relationship.
