Hi CC, thank you for reaching out for support here at BetterHelp.

You have asked a good question here today, and it is not the first time I have heard it. "Why do I feel that no one cares about me".  You are showing a good amount of curiosity and interest in asking this question.  I also sense some disappointment or fear in the question.  Obviously in a therapy session, I would want to know more about your life, who is in your family, any major losses you might have experienced and how you have coped with any losses.  Our questioning and conversations might uncover something from your past that has hurt you - you might have even forgotten it had happened.  Or most likely, at the time you did not allow yourself the space to fully process it and hoped the disappointment would go away on its own.

Another way to look at this feeling, that no one cares about you, is to explore a bit about how you feel about yourself.  Do you at times not feel good about who you are, or do you wish you could be a bit different (don't worry, everyone feels this way from time to time), but if you really feel low self-esteem, that might impact how you form relationships with the people closest to you.  It can be difficult to form close, lasting friendships with others when we don't feel good about ourselves.

In either of these situations, therapy can give you a good sounding board to explore yourself, a safe place to really examine some of your feelings that you might not have felt comfortable doing before.  Ongoing counseling services can help you feel more positive and hopeful and begin to form closer bonds with the important people in your life.

Here at BetterHelp we have many extra resources available to use during therapy that can help your explore and better interpret your feelings such as homework, journaling and online seminars or group therapy sessions covering so many different topics.  You can also message your therapist in between sessions with questions or any insights you may have.

Hope this answer helps you start the counseling journey with some optimist and good feelings.  Change is possible!  Take good care and talk soon, Caryn
