Cala High, LPC
About me
Welcome! My name is Cala and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. I have over 15 years’ experience helping individuals and families navigate a wide variety of life stressors, with the last 4 of those years working in the mental health field. I have the most experience working with anxiety, family/relationship conflicts, parenting issues, life transitions, trauma/abuse, autism, behavioral disorders, and ADHD. I also have experience working with depression, self-harm, career guidance, LGBTQ issues, foster care, and adoption.
I have spent much of my professional life as an educator working with other educators on self-care, anxiety, and depression, as well as with students with special behavioral and their families. I decided to join the mental health field because I have a strong passion to build relationships with individuals and families that go beyond my work as an educator. My passion for mental health has been a life long one. I grew up with loved ones that struggled with mental health issues and have made my own mental health a priority. I am an advocate for individuals and families that reach out for help and support with their social and emotional needs, it is the first step to changing their life.
I use a person-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, solution focused, and multicultural approach to treatment. My priority is to meet you where you are, and to use the treatment approach that will help you reach your goals while still being mindful of your individual cultural identity and specific life experiences. Mindfulness, solution-focused counseling, and cognitive-behavioral therapy are some of the treatment approaches I will use to partner with you during our time together.
I would describe my style as warm, energetic, and supportive. I take a supportive, but straight forward approach to helping you reach your goals and meet your needs. We will work together to set goals and track your progress along the way, while always focusing on learning practical skills that can be applied to a variety of life situations.

I’ve only been working with Cala for a short amount of time thus far, but they’re so understanding and thorough in their response. Cala tends to come back from a different perspective than mine and it’s really helpful to view my situation in a new light.
