Candace Byars, LPC
About me
I am licensed in Virginia with 10 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with various issues, including but not limited to depression, PTSD, adoption issues, preparing for adoption, addiction, ADHD, stress and anxiety, family conflicts, parenting issues, and anger management. I have worked with those who are vets, police officers, active military, and other first responders, along with having additional training in military and forensic psychology. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!
Typically, I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), but I will use additional therapies, theories, modalities, and techniques to help you reach your goals. I have specialized training in adoption competency, juvenile competency, TF-CBT, A-CRA, CRA, and CRAFT. I believe in recognizing small changes each person makes, as these grow and develop into big changes one may be seeking when requesting therapy. I am someone who is here to listen and provide support. I believe in allowing clients to help with leading on this journey to better mental health.
