About me

I hold a Doctorate and Masters in Clinical Psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Temple University. I am a Licensed Psychologist and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have provided individual, couples, and family therapy for more than twenty years. I am trained as a cognitive behavioral therapist but my approach is eclectic, person-centered and trauma-informed. I work with the individual where they are and together we explore and develop plans to overcome the challenges they are facing.

I have worked with clients in various settings and helped them address depression, anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. I can also help you navigate intimate relationship difficulties, family issues, life transitions, grief and loss.

Starting therapy can be stressful in itself but I can help ease that stress as I provide a safe, judgement free environment and provide compassion and understanding that allows you to speak freely about your thoughts and feelings. I believe a warm and trusting therapeutic relationship is the most important part of creating lasting change. We will work together to address your concerns, overcome barriers, and identify your strengths to help you achieve your goals. I look forward to working with you!

Dr. Ferguson-Thomas is a very good listener, with excellent communication of her advice. She is an active interpreter for us when it comes to understanding what our struggles are and gives immediately effective methods to address different challenges. Overall she provides a very helpful, calming, and light-hearted setting over our virtual calls for us to express ourselves. I would recommend anyone with struggles in their relationship or with themselves to seek her expertise and guidance.

I feel that Dr. Frguson-Thomas truly cares about me and my situation. She is dedicated to listening to me and helping me grow. To this point, she does not rush me off a call if she does not have another client waiting, which is something I acknowledge and appreciate greatly. She is very flexible to my schedule which is something else that I appreciate.
Dr. Ferguson-Thomas listens to me, supports me and will always ask important questions even if I may not like to hear them. I am very happy with Dr. Ferguson-Thomas. I often look forward to our sessions and am disappointed when they end.

Dr. Ferguson-Thomas is always so kind and understanding and has helped me immensely in working through some things. I always appreciated how she was quick to respond and have our sessions through text since talking in person can make me more anxious and less likely to share. Dr. Carissa is an excellent therapist and anyone would be lucky to work with her.
