Carl DeJohn, LMHC, LPCC
About me
My counseling approach/style comes from a client/person-centered, Humanistic, non-judgmental point of view. I believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and that every person has the ability – within themselves – to not only enact change, but be their own change agent. I have 14 years experience in the behavioral health field (mental health, substance use, and co-occurring) in counseling individuals, couples, and children and families as well. I hope to help those on BetterHelp recognize the strengths within themselves and how they can use those strengths to make the progress they wish to see in themselves.

I have come to really trust and appreciate Carl's empathy and advice. Therapy with Carl is judgment-free and he always shows compassion for me even when I do not have compassion for myself.

I just finished up a year-long stint of therapy with Carl. As a therapist myself, my standards were pretty high. Carl met every one and more, with empathy, compassion and steady guidance, through one of the hardest years of my life. He was the calm, safe, and warm home base I needed while my life and the world, were in chaos. He was also unconditionally supportive and encouraging, and helped me validate my own reality/feelings/etc., when other situations and people made me question it. I recommend Carl very highly and would not hesitate to go back to him again should I need the support.
