About me

Hello, and welcome to my page! I am Catherine, however most people just call me Cat. I can imagine that if you are on BetterHelp you are looking for some support and wondering what this site it all about! Life can be challenging, full of ups and downs, and sometimes change is difficult to manage! I want you to know that you are not alone, I am here for you, and together we can make it through!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and I have worked as a therapist within the mental health profession since 2007. I have a bachelor’s degree in social work from Appalachian State University and a master’s degree in social work from The University of South Carolina in Columbia. I love working with people and coming along beside them as a support through life's up's and down's. I have experiencing working in many different settings with individuals and families who have a variety of personal issues such as life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, stress management, grief and loss, relationship issues, domestic violence, divorce care, spirituality, stress, anger management, family conflict, parenting, foster care support, overcoming conflict and challenges, and life coaching.

I would describe my approach as empathetic, supportive, and person centered. I often use techniques that are derived from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational interviewing to work with individuals and families. We will identify your current needs and/or challenges and work together to create goals that will help you reach your desired outcome.

Through my years in counseling, I have learned that one of the most important factors of success is making a connection and feelings comfortable with the person you choose to work with. In addition, I feel like you are the expert of your life and you have the answers within yourself; however sometimes it take someone coming along beside you to provide the support needed to help guide you to find those answers. I would love to get to know you and to have the opportunity to be a support for you through this journey called life!

Cat has helped me over the past 2 years to get through the hardest times in my life. She gave me the tools I needed to successfully get to where I am today and even when I am no longer seeing her, I know I can go back to her and she can help me.

Catherine has helped me for several years and our sessions genuinely feel like I’m talking to a friend who can give me professional advice

Catherine is a very good therapist and really does try to get to know her patients. She’s very good at responding quickly. She even was very helpful when she was out for a week for her own surgery, I felt like she was truly considered and ready to help me out again once she returned. Very loving therapist, I wish she could be cloned!

She is wonderful. Doesn’t rush, attentive. So glad I was matched with Catherine.

Cat has been helping me for almost a year now and I have been able to conquer so much in this past year. She has been with me through life events, every day life, and my anxiety/panic disorder. I don’t think i would’ve been able to do what I have done if it wasn’t for her help. She is super thoughtful and is genuinely concerned with my issues and checks up on me regularly, she’s truly a blessing.
