About me

Hi there and WELCOME! I am glad you have reached out to Better Help! Your now are on a journey to dive deeper into enhancing your mental health and seeking more empowerment and optimisation. It is a brave decision to prioritize your mental health and ask for guidance, along the journey. I applaud you for taking this first step! I hope to always create a safe space here, with unconditional positive regard for all of my clients. I practice a variety of modalities, all facilitating to increase healing and well-being. I use a variety of techniques EFT, CBT, DBT and Narrative Therapy bringing in visualisations which can help re-code us on a cellular level. I believe in helping clients overcome generational trauma and find their life purpose while on this planet. I use techniques which get in touch with the subconscious mind and embed new effective patterns.

I can offer Christian Counseling if the client wants to incorporate the power of faith and prayer so that we can tap into that part of ourselves which can really experience miracles and life changes, stand upon God’s Word, as we see life is happening FOR us! I believe in focusing on all that is “ worthy of praise “ to heal us and accessing in practice the power of forgiveness through different exercises. I believe in the power of prayer and witnessed great miracles in my own personal life and many of my clients as we align with our core values. Faith can really give us enlightened eyes of the heart. A safe place to explore these areas, can be very helpful and healing.

Life can be complicated and messy sometimes, there are many areas which need exploring and unpacking to get to the bottom of things and get in the direction of achieving our core values. Therapy is a safe way of getting more understanding and helping to keep us more “ clean” so to speak, as we can safely explore our options and core beliefs. I come with no- judgement, empathy, humour and a kind heart, ready to listen. I help share resources which have been valuable to me along the journey. I have trained in many Solution Based therapies. I am really interested in treating trauma in a somatic way. I use an eclectic approach, integrating several techniques to fit the needs of the client.

I am passionate about helping people get better self-confidence to build stronger relationships. Communication can be tricky and I view it as an art form to be developed. Many times we get stuck in dysfunctional patterns learnt from our childhood, resorting to the drama triangle of either victim, persecutor, or rescuer. We will explore these patterns and work on boundary setting to come into healthier, more assertive pattens. I also am passionate about finding each one's personality type and exploring one’s strengths through the Myer-Briggs tools and preferences. We can explore how you get your energy, learn, make decisions and organise your life. Understanding these areas as well as the language of appreciation and conflict resolution styles can give me great insight into how your brain works. Also understanding your attachment style can be hugely valuable. Our subconscious mind can sabotage us, even when we don’t expect it , due to unconscious programming. The amygdala can mis-fire faulty warnings trying to protect us and we can feel disempowered. There are somatic techniques which can help regulate these faulty signals.

We can also explore if you are recovering from grief and loss how to deal with this process in a healthy way. Loss can also be more areas than death.

There is so much to explore together, thank you for considering sharing this journey with me! I am licensed in the UK and trained in America (I am an American living in the UK) with a Masters in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counselling, with 20 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with relationship issues, trauma and abuse, coping with grief and loss, & parenting issues. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique learning style.

I trained in London with CTI coaching fundamentals course and conscious parenting course from America and I am very understanding of family struggles and being a parent of children on the autistic spectrum, lots of knowledge of how that can impact families, and offer resources around this area. I have worked on Better Help for going into my second year now and found it the most fulfilling work of my life! I believe the ripple effect of changing one life at a time is in a small way helping and changing this planet for the better. Please do get in touch, if we sound like a good match and my profile resonates with you, and the above areas are of interest to you. I really hope to hear from you soon !

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Cathleen Brentnall. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Cathleen is always very patient to listen to me and she’s very compassionate. I feel she understands me. She’s insightful and resourceful. I’ve tried a few other therapists. The thing that makes her different and stands out is I feel she genuinely wants to help me at her heart. She allows me more time to talk whenever possible and check in with me afterwards and offer resources. She’s the best!

I find that establishing trust with someone who not only listens but helps you work together through trauma is most important. I feel especially lucky to have found Cathleen and am grateful for all she has done. She cares so much for her patients and is always looking for the best way to help them.

She is amazing. I didn't trust therapists in general and did not expect it would heal me. I would recommend her anyone needing to heal themselves of inner fear, trauma, etc.

I hope I'll heal more than now and the positive thoughts and mind will last longer.

Thank you Cathleen!
