Charlotte Kennedy, LMSW
About me
I am an African American female with a passion for helping others. I have been a licensed Social Worker in Michigan since 2005. I have provided therapeutic counseling to children, adults, and families for individuals and families for many years through work and within my community. Some areas of focus for my clients are anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting skills, anger management, abuse, neglect, domestic violence, self-care, conflict resolution, substance abuse, relationship issues, etc.
My experience spans over 40 years with a background working with children, adults, and families throughout the community. My work experience encompasses those connected to the human services arena, hospital settings, and community services through non-profits. I have provided counseling in churches, hospitals, child welfare arena, court systems, school systems, and local nonprofit service agencies. I also have a wealth of knowledge surrounding macro level human service management, policy development, and establishing professional relationships and collaborations.
My treatment approach is to provide the support and guidance needed to assist individuals with managing their life circumstances. I utilize various therapeutic approaches such as CBT, ACT, Attachment Therapy, Solution Focused, etc. to accomplish this task. Therapy is a process that takes time, patience, and commitment. I assist my clients with tools to support them along their journey. I listen to their concerns, gather background information, assess, and discuss their needs. Together, we will strategically establish interventions or goals that are clear, attainable, meaningful, and promotes their overall well-being.
My clients are treated with respect, compassion, and patience. Life happens and sometimes, coping with life circumstances can be challenging. I will meet you where you are, and assist you with implementing goals to move you in the right direction. Taking the first step to seeking a happier and more fulfilling life takes courage. I am here to support you on your journey so, let's get started!
