About me

I hold both, a Bachelors of Science degree in Christian counseling, and a Masters of Art , in professional counseling from Liberty University.
I performed my residency at Counseling Alliance of Virginia, in Charlottesville Virginia. I was with them three years before moving on to open my own small business.
I’m well skilled in working with individuals, both women and men, as well as, the elderly. My use of therapy is integrative, although I do have my favorites; which include, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness grounding skills. I am also equipped to give Christian-based counseling when desired, and enjoy weaving in faith-based counseling for a more holistic approach.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Charlotte Schafer. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Charlotte is a pleasure to work with on mental health issues. She is kind and empathetic, asking questions that reflect she’s really listening & paying attention & cares that she’s understanding accurately. She is honest about her level of experience & is transparent about how that may affect interactions with the client, depending on their expressed needs. Charlotte takes a genuine interest in her clients, which helps processing through past events by her curiosity guiding exploration from new angles of perspective, while simultaneously helping create fresh & unobstructed visions of possible paths forward. Her demeanor feels genuine and kind and truly sincere in caring about whether she’s a good fit in ability to be of service but doesn’t use that as an excuse with a willingness to push the boundaries of her comfort zone for sakes of the client’s overall wellbeing. She comes across as open minded and nonjudgmental with real compassion & humanity for others that makes all the difference in helping the client feel safe to share & receive feedback.

I have only seen maybe two other therapists before Charlotte and I can say even though I have only meet with her twice she has helped me more than my past therapists. She shows lots of understanding and empathy that most do not provide. And most importantly she listens and gives great tips for managing my chaos.
She is overall great and I am glad to have found her.

I am incredibly grateful for my experience with Charlotte. From our very first session, she created a warm and welcoming environment that made me feel comfortable opening up. Her ability to listen without judgment and provide insightful feedback has been invaluable in my journey toward self-understanding.

What I appreciate most is Charlotte's tailored approach to therapy. She genuinely takes the time to understand my unique experiences and challenges, offering strategies that resonate with me. The tools and techniques I've learned have not only helped me navigate difficult situations but have also empowered me to embrace positive changes in my life.

Moreover, her professionalism and commitment to my well-being are evident. I always leave our sessions feeling heard, validated, and motivated to continue working on myself. Charlotte’s communication style is engaging and thoughtful; she asks insightful questions that encourage me to explore deeper layers of my feelings.

Her flexibility in scheduling sessions and responsiveness to my needs demonstrate her dedication to my therapeutic journey. I also appreciate the resources she provides outside of our sessions, including helpful readings and exercises that reinforce what we discuss.

Most importantly, Charlotte has created a safe space where I feel respected and free to express myself openly. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking support and guidance. She has truly made a positive impact on my life, and I am thankful for her expertise and compassion.

Our meetings have been helpful and reminded me of many things I know and should be practicing but haven’t been.
