About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Arizona. I have worked twenty years as a therapist in a variety of settings, including cancer support and hospice. My experience includes work with clients whose issues include depression, anxiety, stress, aging and other changes of life, trauma, abuse and self-esteem with related issues. Other areas in which I have counseled clients are career challenges, family conflict and other relationship (traditional and non-traditional) issues, grief and loss, caregiving and end of life guidance.
My counseling style is direct, yet warm and collaborative. I utilize the modalities of Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered and Mindfulness Therapy to help clients become the best version of themselves. I understand the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship that is genuine and promotes growth. I believe in and respect every client's ability to achieve control in their lives. I do not "fix" clients. I respectfully guide the client to the development and use of tools and skills that promote better emotional health.

I was really scared going into this, I've heard stories of having to change therapists a few times, but I was so lucky to find someone as lovely as Cheryl on my first try! She has given me such great advice and so many tips on things that I have going on. Its always a pleasure getting to speak with her especially with how many things I've had going on. I could come in with some really deep stuff and we always find a moment in the session for a laugh or two.

So far my experience with Cheryl has proved helpful. Each session she gives me things to work on, a book to read etc. Working with her has been helpful to understand myself and to work through my trauma.

Cheryl is a great therapist, very patient and kind with me. She will be strict and stern when she has to be with me and I appreciate that most. She is very sensitive to my culture and makes sure that I am comfortable in our discussions when it come to it. Thank you for sticking with me Cheryl.
