Chidale Blackwood, LPC
About me
I am licensed in South Carolina with 4 years of professional work experience. My experience is varied and across settings, as I have provided individual counseling in the community, in a church setting, and in a correctional setting. I have provided direct mental health counseling to adults with a variety of presenting problems including but not limited to anxiety, depression, relationship and family issues, trauma, abuse, depression, and PTSD.
I believe that we are all a product of our environment and closest relationships. I also believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Therapy has been instrumental in my own life, and I draw from personal experience when relating to clients. It is my hope that I can be a more effective counselor by drawing on both my education and life experience.
My therapy style and approach is eclectic, but my style is most influenced by Rogerian therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness. I find Motivational Interviewing to be effective in many situtations. I also provide Christian counseling to those who prefer it.
My top priority is to create a safe space where my clients can feel heard, validated, and supported. My treatment approach will change as your needs change. I'll use the information I get from you to help you write your own plan for success. Whether you're looking to become more enlightened, find the strength to change, or simply find symptom relief, I believe we can work together to achieve your goals.
It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you're ready, I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
