About me

Hello! Thank you for reading my profile. I am a marriage and family therapist (LMFT) licensed in California with over 20 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, issues pertaining to sexuality, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and issues pertaining to spirituality. I also helped many people who have experienced physical and sexual trauma or emotional abuse.

My counseling style is warm and down to earth. My goal is to create an environment where you feel at ease talking about what is in your heart and on your mind. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and psycho-dynamic counseling. And I love Tapping! Tapping is a really great technique to destress and process intense feelings. With that said, each person is different and has different needs. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is about teaming up to give you the insight, inner wisdom and motivation to make the changes you want in your life. We will come up with a plan to work on improving your current situation. Some people simply need a compassionate person to hear them out. Some people may want a concrete action plan with steps and advise on how to proceed. Our work is to collaborate and come up with a plan that would be most effective in meeting your needs.

On a practical matter, my office hours are between 9 am and 8 pm, Tuesday through Thursday. I will respond to messages within 24 hours. If you would like a video chat session during a time that is not listed, please send me a message and we may be able to work out scheduling a time that works for both of our schedules.

"Out of clutter, find simplicity. Out of discord, find harmony. In the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity." Albert Einstein

"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature." Marcus Aurelius

I look forward to working with you!

Respectfully,
Christina Kohfield, LMFT 78980

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Christina Kohfield. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Christina is absolutely wonderful and I am so grateful that I better help connected me with her. She has expertise in every area that is important to me and beyond. This is my first time talking to some one about things that have been bottled up for years. I feel lighter and healthier and in a much better head space because of Christina. She is kind, empathetic, listens, cares, and speaks to some really important helpful and educational pieces when appropriate. She is just what I need to be the best version of myself (for my family and myself- the person I was forgetting about in the chaos of daily life :-) ). Grateful doesn't even begin to describe it and I can not recommend her enough!!

I’ve only had a couple session but I can really see the desire to help and passion she has for the field. She’s made me feel listened to and safe to share things I haven’t told anyone else. She is easy to talk with and I look forward to our sessions.

Christina got me through one of the hardest years of my life. I’m huge into personal development and doing the work, and I feel that our style, work and pacing is well matched and precise. I’m just so incredibly grateful to have found her. I hope to have a working relationship with her for a very long time.
