Christine Gorski-Makar, LMHC
About me
I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LMHC) in New York with many years of experience working as an addiction and trauma counselor. I have an MA from NYU in counseling psychology. My experience also includes working with individuals who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse including PTSD symptomology. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, chemical addiction issues, as well as individuals who have OCD, autism, and a wide variety of personality disorders such as bipolar and borderline.
My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, genuineness, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavior therapy with humanistic (person-centered) and psychodynamic features. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

I have had a few meetings with Christine so far and I just have to say that she is the best therapist I have ever had. She offers great advice and skills that no other counselor has before. She understands and tentatively listens to everything I say. I have already recommended BetterHelp to some friends because of my experience so far!

Christine has been an incredible source of support and guidance in my journey to healing and growth. She has helped me work through the layers of my depression, confront the scars of my youth, and gain new perspectives on the traumas that shaped me. Christine’s empathetic approach and insightful advice have been instrumental in helping me navigate challenges like career burnout and the complexities of polyamorous relationships.
Her ability to create a safe, non-judgmental space allowed me to feel truly seen and heard, and her strategies have given me tools to cope and thrive. I’ve felt a genuine sense of progress and empowerment through our sessions, and I’m deeply grateful for her expertise and kindness. If you’re looking for a therapist who listens deeply, understands, and helps you move forward with clarity and compassion, I wholeheartedly recommend Christine.
