Christine Shim, LCSW
About me
Hi, I am a modern psychotherapist and social worker based in New York City with 10 years of experience working in nonprofit organizations and the healthcare industry. I’ve worked with teens, post-grad-to-pre-parenthood adults as well as the geriatric population who are challenged by depression, anxiety, trauma, triggering events and major life transitions.
First off, I want to applaud you for taking the first step to sign up for therapy. You’re probably here because you’re feeling anxious, stuck, isolated, lost and worried whether if it’s because of your job, future, relationships and/or current events. Or maybe, you’re just curious. My approach is relatable, collaborative, solution focused, and strength based drawing heavily from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). I believe you’re the expert of your story and we will always take the conversation as far as you want it to go. Remember, therapy isn’t about the severity of your problems or ability to solve them; it’s an opportunity to see things differently.
Throughout this journey of healing and growth, we will deeply explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences and relationships to discover unconscious patterns of behavior. Ultimately, my goal is to provide you with an individualized therapy experience that’s genuine, positive, respectful, and safe so that you can walk away feeling invigorated and empowered.
I look forward to connecting with you!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Christine Shim. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Christine is extremely gentle with her patients and she is able to give advice in a natural way where it sounds like it's coming from a genuine friend instead of a therapist. She makes the space feel so comfortable and it's helpful that she puts herself in your shoes to really understand how to help. I recommend her to everyone!
