Constance Akonumbo, LPC
About me
Greetings
My name is Constance. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been in the helping profession for 3 years and, I am pleased to say I Really Love this work. I thank GOD for this opportunity, it has been both personally and professionally rewarding!
Over the years, I have taken a nontraditional career path, from the field of Education, precisely teaching, Nursing, and now Counseling. Equipped with these skills, knowledge and clinical expertise, I feel confident and prepared to help others in developing and achieving their life-long wellness.
My approach to counseling is warm and interactive. I am a firm believer in human dignity. Therefore, I view the therapeutic alliance as a partnership, requiring mutual trust, respect, honesty, communication, and commitment to do the work. I also believe that the changes we need in our lives will only come when we make a conscious decision to do so.
My therapy style and approach draws influence from Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Existential Therapy, Reality Therapy, Gestalt, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy. Above all, I strongly believe in Devine Healing Power.
Finally I must say this; it takes courage to be able to identify a problem or problems in your life, and taking steps to seek assistance to move you forward to be the person you want to be. I believe you have the abilities and strengths in you, and all you need is coaching and guidance to help you harness them together to achieve life goals. It is an honor to be considered a potential partner on your journey.
God Bless.

Constance is a wonderful therapist. She has given me endless support and is always there to give me great advice. She learns about me from all aspects and keeps track of my progress. I can always count on her whenever I needed communication. Her knowledge of mental health is superb. She’s able to work with patients from all cultures because she truly listens. Her positive energy always puts a smile on me. I have been counseling with her for the past year and she has helped me grow to a place I couldn’t believe myself. She is my favorite therapist and I truly appreciate all of her help. I will always recommend her to whomever is seeking help.

Constance is my first therapist I’ve ever had. I’ve never taken therapy before and I’m so glad I did. I’ve learnt and grown to be a mentally more confident person. Also, looking at things in a different light and being more communicative with my feelings. I would highly recommend Constance. She’s not only a great therapist but also a friend.

Constance is an immediately warm and caring presence to meet and interact with. She impairs her wisdom and advice with clarity and is very much a humanist. She makes me feel understood and listened to but always thoughtfully comes back to important topics that I've brought up but may have forgotten. She has helped me make several important connections between my thought processes and daily life already, even just after two sessions. Thank you Constance for being a wonderful and passionate Counselor.
