I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) licensed by the state of Texas. I have worked as a counselor for several years in settings ranging from an outpatient substance abuse clinic, to inpatient hospitals, and my current work in a private practice. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, and career challenges. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.
My counseling style is warm, friendly and interactive. I believe there is great value in working through issues from our families-of-origin but I also know sometimes clients just want to find practical solutions for their current struggles. That's why I use a combination of cognitive-behavior therapy, solution-focused brief therapy as well a family systems approach. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
Seeking help can be frightening, so I admire the courage you've already demonstrated by reaching out for help. I believe that working together we can help you find and develop the kind of life you desire. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

Dr. Curtis was a warm and comforting personality for something I'm sure most people like myself have mixed emotions, mostly anxious, and made it an easy process. He gave me some great things to think about to help my approach to new problems that arisen in my life. I can't thank him enough helping me navigate a way to work my way through my issues. I highly recommend him for anyone unsure if therapy is for them and if it will help. Thanks again doc.

I have only been seeing Mr. Williams for a short time, but the moment our first session began I felt at ease and very comfortable talking to him. He listens so well and is quick to find helpful tools based on what I have expressed. I feel as though he can spot when an issue needs to be addressed and I find that helpful when I do not fully know where to start. I just talk and he listens and finds what to work on with me. He is very kind and patient. Would recommend him to anyone!

Written on Dec 26, 2021 after therapy with Curtis for 4 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, intimacy-related issues, and self esteem
therapist Curtis Williams is kind, helpful, and above all honest. During my 1st session, after talking for a few minutes, he knew and informed me that I needed someone that specialized in the type of therapy I needed. He made several suggestions. He has followed up to see how I was doing and if I had found a local therapist. I highly recommend him as he has great insight and a terrific bedside manner (LOL- just a joke as our session was virtual.) He's great! Try him out, you won't be disappointed.

There is a distinction between intelligence and wisdom. Fortunately for me, Dr. Curtis possesses both. He is really helping me think about and shift some attitudes that don’t serve me. #LifeRaft

I appreciate that Curtis clearly validates my emotions and subjective viewpoint, but also challenges me to think about things in new ways. My own experience, since starting therapy with him a year and a half ago, is that those new ways are typically very helpful.

I've not been working with Curtis for very long, but right off the bat I felt a great connection. He really seems to understand what I'm trying to explain, about how I feel, and provides these amazing analogies for different ways to look at what I'm going through. After our very first session I was already feeling more myself and making better decisions for my life.

Dr. Curtis has been a great impact on my life and I can say I am a better man for my family and for myself while having him as my counselor.
Written on Dec 08, 2020 after therapy with Curtis for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, and trauma and abuse
Curtis is a respectful, attentive listener who helps refocus concerns in more meaningful and 'addressable' ways. He really has a way of putting things into perspective, both listening and ministering without judgement. I often leave with a feeling of just having had a great conversation with my favorite uncle. He's definitely a realist and someone who cares deeply about those he helps: he doesn't give you 'the answers' but he sure can help put you on the right path toward them! Curtis has made a difference in my life and has helped guide me through many of my little and big issues (what I describe as my 'first world' issues and more 'universal traumas'). He is someone who checks in on you but also encourages you to work on your boundaries and your own inner thoughts- and to be accountable for what you do in your life. He has helped me more than he probably knows; I know he can help you, too.

My mental health has taken a complete 180 since I first spoke with Dr. Williams. So much so that I’ve recommend his services(or better help in general) to about three different people already. I’m very grateful for his expertise and the tools he’s offered me to better deal with issues in my life. His approach is very relaxed and accommodating. But, you can really tell he knows his stuff. I highly recommend him to anyone that is seeking help with their mental health.

Written on Jun 25, 2020 after therapy with Curtis for 2 weeks on issues concerning family conflicts
This has been a deeply personal journey for me. I feel I’ve been able to gain more than I thought possible through this. I didn’t know how much enjoyment in my life I was allowing myself to be fearful of and hid myself away from. I’m not fearless, but I’m not terrified to try anymore for fear of failing my loved ones. I take care of myself now, and I’m not a lost little child. I’m becoming full. I’m healing and reinventing each day. It’s a lot of work that I won’t give up one. Curtis helped me see the road ahead, and I made the choice to start walking it.

I was nervous at first to start online counseling. However, due to my full time job and the recent corona epidemic, I am extremely grateful for counseling services available online through BetterHelp. The process of enrolling and choosing your customized counselor tailored to your needs and beliefs was amazing. I will point that out. Overall, I briefly described myself and what I hoped to accomplish through counseling. So far I have had about 4 sessions with Curtis, And let me tell you he is very good at what he does. He is very knowledgable, stays on topic, offers solutions and worksheets for me to work on. I strongly believe that I will overcome my issues with this counselor. Curtis is very respectable and helpful and a very good listener, As a matter of fact, I sometimes take notes during our session in order for me to look back and reflect on what we spoke. I have made so much breakthrough with Curtis as my counselor in so little time. I can just image how much more I will continue to learn and improve as time goes by.
