Dr. Daniel Raker, Psychologist
About me
Hi, and thank you for checking out my profile!
I am the Director of Western Slope Psychological Services in Colorado, and I am the host and creator of the Peace, Love, & Psychology podcast (https://www.buzzsprout.com/2223218).
I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist in several different settings with a wide variety of clients. I have worked for a community college district, where I saw students for therapy, trained interns to work with students, and administered programs for Veterans, Disabled Students and LGBT Students. I have worked in mental health clinics and in clinics for patients with chronic pain and illness. I have specialized in working with people who have been exposed to traumatic experiences. Throughout my career, I have worked with people who may never have been in therapy before, and so I excel at explaining psychological concepts in ways people can understand and apply in their own lives.
My approach therapeutically is client-centered, so I deeply respect the autonomy and dignity of my patients. I strive to provide a space that is accepting, non-judgmental and solution-oriented. I am trained in and tend to use evidence-based interventions that are cognitive-behavioral, cognitive, or mindfulness oriented. We will work together to help you identify your goals for therapy and develop approaches for achieving them. My ultimate goal for you is for you to learn how to better manage the challenges in your life and to feel empowered to live the life you truly want for yourself. Through our work together, you will receive the support and tools you need to live your best life—let’s get started!

Dr, Raker is a very calm therapist who excels at getting to the heart of the matter. I found his support to be very effective in helping me cope with day-to-day issues and set me on a better path whereas I was completely stuck when I started therapy.

I had a few sessions with Dr. Raker and it's ongoing and I'm very happy with him being my therapist. He knows how to listen but at the same time knows when to push. He talks to the point and straight forward.
