My main areas of interest and additional trainings are shame and trauma, including Complex-PTSD, domestic violence/intimate partner violence, sexual assault/abuse, and other forms of trauma and abuse. I utilize empirically-based methods to treat trauma, including cognitive behavioral therapy and narrative therapy (among others). Counseling is a collaborative process. It takes times. My hope is to guide you through your journey while allowing you to remain in the driver's seat.
I am warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental. My philosophy is to meet my clients where they are with open arms. I want you to set the pace, and I will never force you to move faster or into territory you are not comfortable with and ready for. We will forms goals collaboratively and make sure that we are working on what is important to you. I take a holistic approach to therapy, with the goal of empowering clients. My approach is rooted in cognitive behavioral theory, as well as attachment theory, solution-focused theory, existential theory, and dialectical behavioral theory. I am also trained in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
I have treated a number of conditions, ranging from depression, anxiety, and trauma to substance use concerns. I have worked with many individuals who have been affected by trauma.
