About me

I have over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. I decided to become a counselor because I care about others, I'm a good listener and people seem to open up to me easily. These natural skills combined with the education and knowledge gained through study and training, combine to provide an opportunity to facilitate healing. I specialize in depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, substance abuse and trauma. I am EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and CBT trained. I use Person-centered approach to honor the person sitting in front of me as the authority of their life. I address the client's concern(s) using Solution Focused approach, which minimizes the amount of time required to process the concern and develop a resolution.

Darlene has helped me with a variety of challenges, always doing so in a thoughtful, understanding, and empathetic way. She always made me feel comfortable speaking with her, and was able to offer a variety of therapies, including EMDR. I believe she helped me get to the root cause of things, and suggested fresh ways of looking at situations that hadn't occurred to me in years. I highly recommend working with her!

She is Understanding and empathetic towards my specific situation Of child, loss and instability, and my former identity More or less having CPTSD, Darlene gets it. I have been to a lot of therapist who have not. She is giving me real world applications to handle flashbacks, and overwhelming emotions. Talking to her makes me feel 100 and I mean 100 times better. I look forward to every session because I know I will learn something new.

She listens when I need her to listen and she talks when I need her to talk.
Sends things to read, worksheets to complete and takes the time to read and respond to any instant messages I send.
