My counseling style is warm, energetic, inviting, and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect, as well as approaching issues with sensitivity and compassion . It is my goal to create a safe place for people to feel comfortable in sharing their life's story. My counseling approach combines cognitive behavioral therapy with attributes of psychotherapy and person-centered therapy. I will tailor our treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

I have a passion for working along side people in their journey of life. It takes courage to reach out for help and assistance, but it is the first step toward making a change. I am here to provide the support and empower you if you are ready to take that step.

Derek helped me to work through my anxiety and create a framework that allowed me to leave my toxic workplace environment in a manner that wasn't impulsive or self destructive. He's a phenomenal listener, and really understood the traumas that I had experienced while simultaneously treating me with respect.

A very good therapist and an understanding individual. Listens to my concerns and helps me think in different perspectives without fear of judgement. He is very personable and experienced in life and has great insight on an array of different topics. He supports you just like a friend and really brings in the human aspect to therapy.

Derek Durst has let me get out my stress. I'm able to talk and go thoroughly through everything in my mind that is mentally slowing me down. I felt so heavy when I first started and now that I'm getting everything out, I feel so much better both physically and mentally. He's also provided me with worksheets and concrete tools to use in the future. I highly recommend Derek Durst!

I have only spoken to Derek Durst a few times, but I appreciate the fact that he is so personable and relatable. The little things he shares about his own family and experiences helps me because I can see that he's human just like the rest of us. It's definitely more comfortable feeling like I'm talking to a friend than a 'doctor'. I appreciate his kind approach, his compassion for my feelings, and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing to talk to someone without feeling like they are being judged.
