Dr. Dinah Meyer, Psychologist
About me
Hello, I am a counseling psychologist licensed to practice in Ohio, and have over 25 years of experience working with adults and adolescents in community mental health, private practice, and school settings. I am also a psychology professor at a university in Ohio, but have a passion for helping individuals overcome obstacles to their growth and live healthier, productive lives. My experience with clients includes issues with anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief/loss, relationship problems, parenting concerns, and career/vocational issues. I also have experience educating and counseling clients on COVID-19 related issues, including trauma/loss, COVID fatigue, and compassion fatigue.
I hold a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Ohio State University, and an M.A. degree in Developmental Psychology.
My counseling style is warm, empathic, and compassionate, and my focus is on building a trusting relationship with clients that they can use to support the changes in their lives. My therapeutic approach uses solution-focused and cognitive behavioral techniques that allow clients to work toward their goals in a timely fashion. I encourage clients to set the lead in sessions, believing that we are our own best experts on ourselves. My role is to assist clients in marshalling their own strengths and resources, along with learning new ones, in a way that allows them to "be their own therapist" outside of sessions.
I look forward to meeting with you and hearing your story.

Dr. Meyer is truly one of the best therapists I have ever worked with. She's calm, composed, and makes me feel heard. She helps me to uncover what the underlying issues are, and how to move forward with helpful techniques. I love working with her and would highly recommend her!

Dinah is a wonderfully, warm and welcoming therapist. She does an excellent job of keeping in contact and offering support while being cognizant of aspects of my life and current stresses that may keep me from responding as timely as I would like.
I cannot recommend her highly enough and I am very thankful for the time that I have spent with her.
