Domingo Zapata, LPC
About me
Hello! My name is Domingo Zapata and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) from south Texas, also known as the Rio Grande Valley. I have been a practicing therapist as of 2016, providing outpatient mental health services for local nonprofit behavioral health agencies in my community as well as in the university setting. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages and of any gender identification. This is not a place of judgment, but rather a place of love and acceptance. As a counselor, being of aid and emotional support in any manner will always come first. I firmly believe everyone deserves to be treated with immense care, kindness, and compassion.
I specialize in treating and coping with depression, anxiety, trauma/abuse, low self-esteem/motivation, as well as LGBTQIA+ related concerns, as being of aid to the LGBTQIA+ community is central to my personal philosophy and personal life. My approach as a counselor is highly existential and client-centered in theory, as I believe no two individuals are alike and have found immense success with the combination of various forms of psychotherapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), existential therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy.
Ultimately, taking the first step in asking for help is the best thing one can do, and for that, I am immensely proud of you. I look forward to helping you on your path to health and healing!

I have been having sessions Domingo for almost a year now, and I can confidently say that he is an exceptional therapist. From our very first session, I felt heard and understood in a way I never have before. Domingo has a unique ability to listen deeply and empathetically, creating a safe and non-judgmental space where I can express my thoughts and feelings freely.
One of the things that stands out about Domingo is his attentiveness. He remembers the details of our conversations and follows up on them in subsequent sessions, showing that he genuinely cares about my progress. His insightful questions and observations have helped me gain clarity and perspective on issues that I have struggled with for years.
Domingo's approach is both compassionate and practical. He provides actionable strategies and tools that I can apply in my daily life, which have made a significant difference in my life. He is always patient and encouraging, making me feel supported and motivated to continue working on myself.
I highly recommend Domingo to anyone seeking a therapist who is not only skilled and knowledgeable but also deeply caring and attentive. These sessions have had a huge posative impact on my life.
