Dr. Dominiquie Clemmons-James, LCMHC
About me
Hello, I’m Dr. CJ and I’m glad you’re considering counseling! Whether you are new to therapy or just online counseling in general, I’m here to assist you in your time of need. I have 7 years of counseling experience and look forward to getting to know you better.
My highest degree is a Doctorate of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Counseling and Administration. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC # 9531) and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC # 00272838).
I employ a multi-systemic approach that is founded upon person-centered therapy and evolves to include: Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-focused, and Narrative therapies. I incorporate techniques that assist in the modification of behavior and cognition such as emotion regulation, development of alternative behaviors, and negative thought replacement. Using these techniques, I hope to assist you with describing and finally living the narrative of your ideal life.
My counseling style is nurturing and empathetic, with honesty and challenge. I want to provide a therapeutic relationship where you feel validated and confident enough to make steps toward bettering your life. We all have an idea of the person we want to be and sometimes we need a safe space to grow and then take flight. I’m hoping our interaction can be that for you.
I am a HUGE consumer of various fandoms. I enjoy all things that allow my nerd flag to fly. I love connecting with others over things that are special to them and I look forward to connecting with you.

Finding a therapist you have a pretty solid rapport with can be scary, especially following a similar but negative experience. Dr. Clemmons-James is as solid as they come and I feel genuinely lucky to have been paired with them.
