Donald (Don) Heffington, LPC
About me
For over 20 years I have been providing counseling services to the residents of Oklahoma. I received my bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Tulsa, went on to receive my Masters degree from Northeastern State University and then received my license as a Licensed Professional Counselor. My practice consists of counseling clients, supervising new counselors for their licensure and consulting with other counselors about their practice. Over the years I have employed a variety of therapeutic interventions for my clients ranging from Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Solution Focused Therapy. We all experience times in our life when we are unable to do those things that we want to, and our lives may become unmanageable and unfulfilling. These times may provoke feelings of anxiety and depression and may lead to substance use or other maladaptive and self-destructive behaviors and relationships. These emotions, behaviors and relationships can often overwhelm us and we experience a feeling of being stuck in our current situation with no way out. These difficult emotions may have been a part of us for so long that we do not realize there is a different way of living. If you are struggling with emotions, relationships, substance use or you find yourself repeating the same patterns, I would like the opportunity to work with you. After hearing from you about what you would like to change in your life, what you value and the strengths you will bring to therapy, I will work with you to determine the most effective plan to help you realize the life you desire.

Don is incredible and patient. He calls out my paradoxical moments and helps me clear my thoughts to address them with greater focus and intention. I know I "squirrel" on him often, so I'm thankful he's patient with my brain dumping.

Don makes each session centered around individual needs. He makes sure to treat my mental health like it's own thing. Not like anybody else's and I appreciate the unique styles he uses to make sure I have the tools I need to center myself.
