Donna Murison, BACP
About me
My practice is integrative CBT incorporating, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness-Based CBT and Compassion-Focused Therapy with Person-centred as the foundation. I deliver a flexible and tailored approach to suit individual needs; you are the expert in your own life and for this reason, I treat the person as opposed to the symptoms/issues/difficulties presented to me.
The therapeutic relationship is a space for personal growth, where warmth, genuineness, patience, and acceptance are prized above all. It is my privilege to work alongside my clients in setting achievable goals, building a toolkit of coping techniques & strategies for you to use in the future, and empowering people to live the richer fuller lives they deserve.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help clients manage whatever is overwhelming them by changing how they think and behave. I strongly believe; that if you change your thinking, you will change your life. Working alongside each client, exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a confidential, non-judgmental, and supportive way.
I work with clients presenting with a wide variety of mental health concerns such as grief & loss, phone/social media addiction, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, body dysmorphia, and unhealthy relationships with food. I have extensive experience in supporting clients through life changes, for example, perimenopause & menopause, divorce, and separation. I am trained in couple counselling using systemic family therapy.
If you are struggling it can be a relief to talk to someone who is trained to listen and understand, where you are heard and accepted. Perhaps you are critical of yourself, I can help guide you to personal growth using self-compassion, to enable you to quiet your inner critic, to be as kind to yourself as you would be to others.
I am an online & telephone-certified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I follow a set of ethical principles and guidelines that underpin my practice. I maintain and enhance the quality of my work through regular supervision and continued professional development.
PLEASE NOTE: I work with BetterHelp Mon, Tues & Wed. I do my utmost to reply to messages as quickly as possible, when there is a delay it is because I am attending to other clients or I have signed off for the day (7 pm in UK). Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Donna is amazing. She helped me to identify unhealthy thought patterns, understand why they are there and how to transform them. Sometimes the learnings are so simple but so groundbreaking. Thank you so much.

I have been having therapy with Donna for almost a year and it is the best part of my week! I feel like she has really helped me dig deep and realise things I never thought of before which has really really helped me. I’m sad to be stopping my sessions with Donna for now, but that’s what happens when you have a good therapist who knows how to heal you! I thank her for everything xx
